Women's Ministries - Christmas Outreach
 

First Free Women's Ministries reaches out to the Rockford community through it's ministry in general, but also with two outreach events in particular: Prepare Him Room, a Christmas outreach luncheon event and Angel Tree, a Christmastime giving ministry.

 

Prepare Him Room – "Hark, the Herald Angels Sing"
Saturday, December 6, 2008
11:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

"Let every heart, prepare him room" is a familiar line from the traditional Christmas Carol "Joy to the World" and is the annual theme for the Christmas outreach event for women.

Plan to join us for 2008 on Saturday, December 6 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. for Hark, the Herald Angels Sing!

So, what happens at Prepare Him Room?
At the 2008 Prepare Him Room, we will have
  • A variety of Angel Displays in the Lobby from 10:30 – 11:15 a.m.

  • Tables will be hosted by First Free women who have specially decorated their tables with special holiday place settings and centerpieces
     
  • Table viewing will begin at 11:00 a.m.
     
  • An elegant lunch and an inspiring program will begin at 11:30 a.m.

2007 Prepare Him Room Recap

The 2007 Prepare Him Room theme was "Divine Design: A Woman's Heart, Christ's Home" and was held on December 1, 2007. A total of 310 ladies enjoyed

  • An elegant luncheon
  • Holiday place settings provided by First Free hostesses
  • The results of three room makeovers from start to finish
  • Special holiday hints for your home
  • Special music from First Free's own Ladies Ensemble and Men's Ensemble
  • A powerful message from Ann Sullivan on relying on the Master's design when things don't go your way
  • Great food
  • And fun!

Each table had a hostess who decorated with her own holiday tableware and decorations to prepare her table for the guests sat with her. Once the doors opened, the ladies were able to stroll between the tables prior to the luncheon to view all the beautiful tables. Angel Tree
 

Angel Tree is an annual, nationwide Prison Fellowship Program that enriches the lives of prisoner's children at Christmas. More than obtaining gifts for needy children, volunteers create a lasting expression of genuine love.

Coordinated through Women's Ministries, a special Christmas tree is set up in the church with angel decorations. The angels include the name of a prisoner's child and their gift wishes. Participating families select an angel, purchase the gift, and return the wrapped gift to the church. Volunteers deliver the gift on behalf of the absent parent. This ministry begins mid-November.
