Women's Ministries - MOPS: Mothers of Preschoolers

MOPS is a Christ-centered, caring ministry seeking to meet the unique needs of mothers with infant through kindergarten-aged children. MOPS is not a Bible study; rather, it involves instruction relating to womanhood, marriage, child-rearing specifically focused on preschoolers, and family relationships. All of these topics are based on biblical principles.

We always have room for moms, but if you need childcare, there may be a waiting list. Registration is now open for Fall 2008 - click here to register!

Join the Adventure for 2008-2009!

Our theme for 2008-2009 is Adventures in Mothering. This theme equips moms to learn more about themselves as they go through the adventure of motherhood. They will celebrate and embrace the fun in the experiences, even in the midst of daily mom life that stretches them emotionally and spiritually.

The metaphor for Adventures in Mothering is an amusement park. With the sights, sounds, tastes and smells of the amusement park, motherhood might feel like a sensory overload. But your MOPS group will enjoy this together and learn more about themselves as women, moms and leaders.

The theme verse for Adventures in Mothering is Ephesians 3:18:
“…how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ.”

The dimensions of this verse expresses how God is with us in our mothering adventure. The knowledge that God is with us on the mothering adventure gives hope. God’s love is big enough for the magnitude of the adventure!

All mothers of children ages birth through kindergarten are welcome. Our Christmas Brunch, Easter Brunch, and Silent Auction meetings are open to all!

MOPS meets every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month, September through May from 9:00 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. Meetings are held in the Fellowship Hall at First Evangelical Free Church.

Ericka Yancey is coordinator for 2008–2009. Ericka can be contacted through the Women’s Ministries office.

MOPS Fundraisers

  • Our annual Silent Auction was held Tuesday, April 22, 2008 from 9-11:30 a.m. Fifty-two women silently bid on 203 baskets at our Silent Auction this year where MOPS earned one of our highest amounts in MOPS history - $4,080.00! A HUGE THANK YOU to all of our retail/corporate donors, moms who donated items, and those who helped pull the event together - we could not have done this without you. And, THANK YOU to those of you who participated in the auction - we appreciate your generosity!

  • In 2007, we had Antiquities (an antique children's photographer) come in and it was a complete success! Thank you to all the families who supported MOPS with this fundraiser.

Childcare Policy

Childcare is available for our MOPS program (MOPPETS) and is provided through Children’s Ministries. There is a childcare policy in place to provide a safe place where moms know their children are well taken care of so they are free to learn and grow in Christ through Women’s Ministries opportunities.
